Personal Statement
My name is Abbey Elizabeth Fogt. As a young adult, I’m very outgoing, strong willed, and passionate about everything I do. I love a challenge and am very headstrong and strive to make a positive influence. As much as I love learning and being a student, I find that my weaknesses are balancing schoolwork with responsibilities of work and what my family life requires. I often worry that I don’t reach my parents expectations of what they believe I should accomplish. But in turn, they accept the effort I make and love me through it.
My first ambition in the real world would be to excel as a fashion coordinator like Stacy London, one of the main fashion icons on the show “What Not to wear”. I look up to her because it gives me pleasure to help people have a positive esteem towards them selves. Another goal of mine in my life is to one day accomplish what my mother has worked so hard for. She has been a successful owner for seventeen years of her well-known catering business, “Unforgettable Food Affairs”. This is an opportunity I would love to carry on because of the reputation and admiration my mother has shown to her community.
On another note, as a student there are many things that I love and I find difficult. One subject that has always come easy to me is Art. I find that when in this state of mind, I really connect with my creativity and my love for design. My least favorite subjects would be History and Foreign Languages. I believe these are not my strong points because I find it hard to connect with them. When at school, I always strive to have a positive attitude in the classroom and connect with my teachers. It warms my heart to hear the kind words my teachers have expresses to my parents, presenting to them that I have an appeasing attitude in the class and look forward to what the future holds in later studies.
Outside of school, I focus on getting as much work experience it the field I would later like to major in. I am currently a sales clerk at a shoe store, Journeys. I find that my greatest accomplishment is providing my customers with items that will appeal to there appearance in a positive way. I love giving people new ideas and styles that they can branch out to and find their inner identity within the items I provide for them.
When looking back at the time I have spent on this earth, I believe that one of my greatest disappointments is letting down my family from time to time with decisions I have poorly made. With that said, I have done a lot of self improvement during the past year to help find who I am as a person and what I am here to do. This has made me find that my disappointments are learning experiences that I will receive important and valuable life lessons from.
Now as graduation is creeping up soon, I have found that my goals and expectations of myself have risen. I believe that the good times and the bad times are what make you who you are. As the days past by quickly, I’ve learned to always keep my chin up and push forward towards my dreams and my goals. I am a firm believer that when times get hard, and you hit rock bottom, the only way to go from there is up.
